Thomas hawk, ending my blog with a bang. this guy has some pretty crazy goals! he wants to finish 1,000,000 finished photographs before he dies, and they are actually a lot of fun and enjoyable to look at. good luck hawk, cant wait to see the rest
jan c schlegel, is a german photographer whose work caught my attention, the photos i saw were focused on the proud tribal parts of life including this man above. it is a wonderful composition and i cant stop looking at this. also really love the back drop, interesting how perfectly it blends with the subject

i thought this was a cool story of an inseparable couple who were not allowed to be buried together because one was a protestant and one was catholic. i couldn't find a photo credit for this specific photo, but it was my favorite out of the ones i saw.
sunset. on mars. photo credit....nasa? yes. well done nasa
Marc Riboud's work from his famous 100 flowers photo gallery. what can i say? Im a sucker for fantastic black and whites. this photo captured my attention with its unique timing and the different facial expressions in the crowd.

photography doesn't always have to be a super deep form of expression. it can sometimes just be about the subject. where you just go out to have a good time, in this case an adrenaline rush. because when you play paintball most peoples heart beats quick and you make some pretty different choices. Christian Campbell shot this, and i thought it was entertaining. reminded me how fun the sport was.
moral of the story, have fun. (dont get shot while taking photos either)

Horst Faas, a german photo journalist and recipient of the pulitzer prize...twice. he shot some beautifully gritty Vietnam war photos and risked his safety to deliver these images to the world. which is pretty darn cool.
brandon allen photographs pure adventure. i like alot of his work escpecially when he shoots motorcycles. i feel like he really captures the travel spirit that all motocyclists fight. you know...the urge to ride south for the winter permanently. fuck winter.

Duane Michals was a photographer we talked about in class, i looked up the work of Michals and i really loved a lot of it. these two were some of the first that really got my attention.

well i had a lame little sony camera that didn't have the remote flash thing...so i set the iso up to 1600 and tried to get some shot for the blog. i really loved watching everyone else have fun in the studio that day and i got in there and helped with the lighting disc.

Aliya Waldman is a very talented photographer, and musician. she used to live in St Charles so that's how i met her. we became friends before i even knew she was an accomplished photographer and since i discovered her work i became even more interested in her as a person! shes got some cool work, check it out, you'll like it. especially if you are nerdy.

for our light project, i got an idea when kate mentioned cats always finding the light in a room. so i set out to catch a "cat" but instead caught this possum instead. i named him trevor. trevor is very creepy and gave me a few more ideas. i think ill definitly try to shoot some more wild animals in the future when i have time.

photograph by john Dominis. i love black and white photos, there is a real sense of art because they are so sensitive to everything you do to them. and they are in my opinion harder to make look fantastic. that's why i love Dominis's work, everything looks amazing to me.
